Work, Health and the Economy

The aim of this Seminar is to discuss both the needs of the employee and the employer in terms of Health and Work. 

 

The health of workers and the maintenance of their health as well as safety of various work hazards are currently enshrined in what is called Occupational Health and Wellness. The industry surrounding Occupational Health and Wellness has been calculated by various economists and world renowned accountancy firms as the world’s next trillion dollar industry.

 

This seminar will also discuss both the major economic benefits for UK industry in keeping employees healthy and at work with multi million pound economic savings caused by lower health costs long term and massive increases in productivity. 

 

We have an expert panel, and other guests who will be attending including politicians, policists, economists, HR professionals and specialists in Occupational Medicine and Public Health to describe and discuss this much needed topic.

The meeting with be co-chaired by Professor Roger Williams CBE (Chairman, Conservative Health) and Dr Mike Goldsmith (Panellist and Conservative Health Council Member)

The Rt Hon Lord David Willetts FRS

Lord Willetts is the Executive Chair of the Resolution Foundation. He served as the Member of Parliament for Havant (1992–2015), as Minister for Universities and Science (2010–2014) and previously worked at HM Treasury and the No. 10 Policy Unit.

 

Lord Willetts is a visiting Professor at King’s College London, a Board member of UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), a Board member of Surrey Satellites and of the Biotech Growth Trust. He is the Chair of the Sanger Institute and the Chair of Foundation for Science and Technology. He is an Honorary Fellow of Nuffield College, an Honorary Fellow of the Royal Society and the Chancellor of the University of Leicester.

 

Lord Willetts has written widely on economic and social policy. His book The Pinch about fairness between the generations was published in 2010. His latest book A University Education is published by Oxford University Press.
